Japanese Glass Ball Net Float
These glass floats are ball shaped and would originally been covered with rope netting. They were used as floats to keep a fishing net from sinking. Many broke away during storms and washed up on beaches around the Pacific rim.The ball shaped floats come in many sizes from tiny 1 1/2" in diameter up to 36" monsters. They are hand blown and some bear a "Kanji" mark ( makers stamp) put on when glass was molten. The float pictured is 3 1/2" diam and contains lots of bubbles and other impurities. $23.00
