German 1838 Sword and Scabbard
I bought this sword as a "naval cutlass" possibly Confederate. After much research, it turned out to be a German Short Artillery sword made by the German firm Schnitzer and Kirschenbaum in 1838. It is relatively rare and comes with its matching scabbard( both sword and scabbard have matching numbers). The hilt is untouched, but I used a fine polish to remove enough grime on the blade to see what stampings and numbers were on it. Blade length is 17 1/4",overall length is 24 1/2". Weight is 4 lbs. $195.00
