The small ( 3" face) is a nice old item.It was made by T.Sherman Co of Seattle ,Washington and sold under the trade name of DIRIGO. The small boxed compasses were used in small craft, fishing boats and life boats and at one time it had a lid,which has been lost over the years.It is in good condition and if you desire could easily be restored to its former state. The compass and gimbals are of solid brass and would polish up well or leave as is for a salty display item.
